McWaters Wants a New Toy
Money has given him only so much, so now it’s time to play with a Senate seat. Wouldn’t that be fun?! The folks at the country club would definitely think he was cool shit then!
Here’s his Facebook greeting early this morning:
Hello, New Year! Cindy and I thought 2009 was a lot of fun, but 2010 should be even better if my terrific supporters come out and vote on January 12th!
Gag! My comment to that… “Oh yeah… It’s all about having fun…” What a turd!

Mr. McWaters deserves to be treated with courtesy, simply for having the courage to run for public office in this age.
The voters should be given the facts regarding what each candidate is offering, then let the citizens decide this election, based on the issues.
In brief, Mr. McWaters is likely to support the return of TOLLS to the VB-Norfolk Expressway (as part of McDonnell’s plan to bring tolls back to Virginia Roads). Mr. Fleming will not support handing over Virginia’s assets (roads, ports, etc.) or the return of TOLL roads. On health care, Mr. McWaters wants us to let his buddies in the insurance racket decide who gets covered and how much we pay. Mr. Fleming will work to ensure that all citizens can access affordable health care. Mr. McWaters and Mr. Fleming are both supporters of the Second Amendment, but Mr. McWaters will keep McDonnell’s “One gun a month” restriction, while Mr. Fleming will support law-abiding citizens having the freedom to purchase firearms as the citizens, see fit.
Backgrounds:
Both Mr. McWaters and Mr. Fleming are millionaire country club members.
Mr. McWaters earned his fortune as a health insurance “gatekeeper” while Mr. Fleming earned his money by operating a defense contractor company, MILCOM, that provided hundreds of Virginia Beach rsidents with rewarding careers. MILCOM has been acquired by another company. a move that actually saved jobs that could have been lost.
Issues:
Mr. Fleming has a much more detailed list of issues on his website than those listed by Mr. McWaters. One can see that Mr. Fleming has positions that are more like the traditional Virginia Beach voter on most issues, but he is also taking the additional step to propose real solutions that reflect the real problems that the citizens face. It is clear that a major difference between the two candidates is that Mr. Fleming has studied the issues and developed his own ideas, and has consulted with citizens from all parts of the political spectrum. Mr. Fleming shows that he will really listen to constituents.

Mr. McWaters offers the same boilerplate platitudes that are provided by the corporate-owned, Republican Party. He mentions problems like transportation, taxes and the need for job generation, but provides little in the way of real solutions. For example, Mr. McWaters asserts that he would be a recruiter of new businesses, but also admits that his own company refused to expand in Virginia Beach, blaming lack of transportation infrastructure to support an additional 600 employees.
On the education issue, Mr. McWaters mentions that he was on the Board at William and Mary, but omits any discussion about how W&M has continued to grovel before the altar of political correctness, including the removal of the cross from the campus chapel (the cross was later returned, but kept in a case, so as not to “offend” non-Christians). One has to wonder where Mr. McWaters was during that debacle?
On Transportation, Mr. McWaters says nothing to dissuade anyone from the idea that he will fully support Bob McDonnell’s plan to place TOLLS on existing Virginia roads (possibly the Virginia Beach-Norfolk expressway) McDonnell wants to see the operating rights to our roads to TransUrban, a Chinese-Australian multinational, who would charge us TOLLS to drive on our own roads.

On the issues, Mr. Fleming is the better choice to represent the citizens of the Eighth District.
