Cuccinelli denies global warming

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli announced that he will file a legal challenge to the finding that carbon dioxide is a danger to public health and contributes to global warming.

He must know this is a complete waste of time, since the U.S. Supreme Court already decided this issue in 2007.  It’s just another political stunt, throwing red meat at the right-wingers.

“It’s a shame, and, frankly, embarrassing, that we now have a climate-denier as an attorney general.” – Glen Besa, Director, Virginia Sierra Club

    Here’s our full release:

Sierra Club response to Cuccinelli announcement that the Attorney General’s office is challenging US EPA action regulating greenhouse gases

“Attorney General Cuccinelli is wasting taxpayers’ money on frivolous litigation that ignores the science and the law,” said Glen Besa in response to Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s announcement today that he will challenge the US EPA’s finding that climate change endangers the public health of Americans. “Who exactly is he representing?” Glen Besa is the Director of the Virginia Chapter of Sierra Club.

The law to which Besa was referring is the Supreme Court ruling in 2007 that held greenhouse gases are a pollutant under the Clean Air Act which it is the job of the US EPA to enforce. The science is the result of thousands of scientific papers by more than 2000 scientists all over the world who compose the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

“Cuccinelli is embarrassing the citizens of Virginia at the tax payers’ expense. He apparently wants to bring the Scopes Monkey trial to Virginia,” added Besa.

“In his recent blog posts the Attorney General confuses climate with weather when he points to the recent snow storms as proof that climate change does not exist. In fact, warmer oceans contribute to considerably more moisture in the atmosphere which would account for more snow; however, no climate scientist will point to a single weather event and attribute it to climate change,” said Besa.

CO2 is not a green house gas. It does not increase global temperatures. Historical records show that CO2 is a lagging indicator, sometimes by as much as 800-900 years. Hmmm, the last warming period was about 900 years ago…….

There has been no statistical warming for 15 years, as per the leading climate change promoter.

And, apparently, there have been ongoing experiments for the last 36 years that disprove CO2 absorption of outgoing long wave infrared energy.

If you are intellectually honest, go read: http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/02/the_agw_smoking_gun.html

There is no reason for the EPA to consider a gas NECESSARY for life to be a pollutant, unless, of course, its all about politics….

  3. Cargosquid Says:

By the way, Rush Limbaugh has this on the radio now.

  4. David Campbell Says:

Of course, there is no more “intellectually honest” and credible scientific authority than Rush Limbaugh.

  5. Scott Cohen Says:

How did Cucinnelli get 60% of the vote? He outpolled Bolling, an incumbent.

  6. Cargosquid Says:

    David,

I wasn’t mentioning Rush as a authority, just that he was mentioning it at all.

  7. David Campbell Says:

To recap: the U.S. Supreme Court already determined that CO2 is a pollutant subject to regulation under the Clean Air Act (those socialists!)

I hope someone is keeping track how much of our taxes are being spent on Cuccinelli’s silly political stunt.
