Pop! Goes Sen. Frank Wagner’s Pipe Dream
For once, thank goodness to Sen. Dick Saslaw and his Senate Dems. Today they killed Sen. Frank Wagner’s imaginary revenues bill. As reported in the Virginian-Pilot Saslaw called the bill “a fantasy” that seeks to dedicate dollars “the state is never going to see.”
Continues the Pilot, “A similar defeat likely awaits offshore-drilling royalty legislation from Del. Chris Stolle.”
Wagner adds that “[u]pcoming November elections could alter the political makeup of Congress and change how it deals with offshore drilling.” As long as non-coastal states outnumber coastal states switching up revenue sharing is about as likely as Virginia developing anything off its coasts.
