    OK — that’s funny!

    Greetings from Oklahoma.

While out on the road this time out, I have been tip toeing around the worst of the winter storms. What I have not been able to avoid is all the chatter on the CB radio about how this winter proves there is no global warming. Typically when I hear this I launch into how one scientist/climatologist predicted some time ago that North America and Europe were going to go through a cooling period however the scientist explained this would only be temporary and then once again warming would be experienced.

To David Campbell (relating back to a discussion we had about a month ago): For my efforts I have been accused of being a tree hugger by other truck drivers! Thought you might get a kick out of that.

Weather is local and short term. Climate change is global and long term. Climate change does influence weather patterns, but no single weather event may be directly attributted to global warming. There may be increased risk of flooding in some areas and droughts in other areas. There may be fewer but more severe hurricaines. Climate science predicted that the warmer temperatures would increase water absorption over the Atlantic, contributing to more severe winter weather in some parts of the U.S. (Meanwhile, there is barely enough snow in Vancouver to hold the winter olympics.)
