Cat Got Sen. Frank Wagner’s Tongue

The mastermind responsible for setting the ball in motion in 2005 towards Virginia offshore drilling sneaked in quietly and late at last evening’s MMS public hearing on the Atlantic seismic study necessary to support drilling. Nor did state senator Frank Wagner speak. Darn! No cute little stories about how all the little fishies love to hang out in the area of offshore oil rigs.

StumbleUpon It!

Bet the fish would love some wind platforms!

So can you give an update on the people who did comment? What was the mix-50/50 for/against? Any other elected officials attend?

As the Pilot reported, majority of the crowd (largest crowd for any of the cities MMS has held seismic meetings in thus far) was anti-drilling. Former VB Mayor Oberndorf spoke as did the County Administrator for Accomack County. NASA expressed concern. SELC, Nature Conservancy and VIMS folks were there but didn’t speak (why not?? I don’t understand?????). They’ll be submitting written comments expressing great concern. Pro-drillers which include Bob Mathias, the City’s lobbyist, slunk in and out pretty quietly. The tides are turning!
