Censure Councilman Bill DeSteph
There’s not much we can do about the fact that Councilman Bill DeSteph is a racist idiot except boot his ass out of office this November. In the meantime, we should insist that he be censured for use of City letterhead.

Lets see, Islamic extremists want to plant a mosque on the site where islamists murdered thousands.. This looks a little conquestish don’t you know?

Well said Boyd.

Boyd conarton & Christine Silvestro: Actually, Muslim Americans want to build a cultural center two blocks from the former site of the twin towers. How far away should a Muslim facility be allowed? Four blocks? Eight blocks? Nowhere in New York City?
Bonus questions: How close to the Oklahoma City federal building site should we allow a Christian church to be built? Dr. George Tiller was serving as an usher at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas when he was murdered by Christian anti-abortion activist Scott Roeder. Should the church be torn down?
The real question: Should a city councilman be allowed to use official letterhead to plagarize an outside organization’s positions and misrepresent them as the views of the City Council and all the residents of Virginia Beach?

David,
I think this is a rather complicated subject in my opinion. Mr DeSteph in his letter identified that the advocates of this cultural center are in favor of Sharia law. Are you in favor of that?
While serving in the Navy, one ship I was on once pulled into Jeddah Saudi Arabia for refueling. Us infidels were not even allowed onto the pier.
Must we be accepting of them when they throw the padlocks up on their side? Just how many Christian Churches are there in Mecca?

LittleDavid: In answer to your direct question: no, I am not in favor of Sharia law.
Unlike Saudi Arabia, the United States has freedom of religion. I think that is a good thing.

David,
Freedom of religion is good, but when does it become too good?
While the majority of Muslims were not behind 9-11 a minority were. The Muslim ideal is to keep their doors closed to outside influences while exploiting our open doors.
