Republicans against education

Virginia will receive another $324 million (in addition to the $2 billion already received) for public education from stimulus funding.

Local Republicans Rep. Randy Forbes and Rep. Rob Wittman voted against it.

Local Democrats Rep. Bobby Scott and Rep. Glenn Nye voted for it.

That’s so nice that Rep. Scott and Rep Nye voted to spend more money that we don’t have…..

Apparently, you don’t mind printing money. Oh, wait, those school kids that you so want to help can pay for it….

  2. David Campbell Says:

At least the school kids will receive more benefit from this spending then they got from the $1 trillion we have spent in Iraq.

  3. Lisa Says:

Ok I get it.. make Nye look like a good liberal because of one vote. Fuck nye.

  4. David Campbell Says:

Lisa: Nope, this is a continuous series of mine (Republicans against…”) about all the local benefits of the stimulus bill, which was unanimously opposed by House Republicans.

But since you brought it up, I don’t think Nye is a good liberal. I just think he is preferable to a bad conservative like Rigell. That will probably be the only choice available to voters in the district.

Rep. Scott really is a good liberal and Rep. Forbes is a horrible conservative. Both are likely to be re-elected in gerrymandered safe districts. Nye is a vulnerable Democrat in a swing district that you are apparently prepared to give up without a fight. Because you’re such a good liberal.

  5. Robert Says:

Is there a such thing as a good conservative? Nye didnt fight for healthcare, I’m not fighting for Nye. He must learn he won’t be re-elected without catering to the party base. Moderates & independents will all go to rigell/taylor/loyola. Even Tom Periello is a good liberal.

  6. David Campbell Says:

Got it. Nye didn’t fight for health reform. Let’s teach him a lesson by electing Rigell/Taylor/Loyola so he can fight to repeal health reform. You would prefer that because you’re in favor of health reform.
