Threat Quiz

What was the greatest threat to the United States?
A) The Civil War.
B) The Great Depression.
C) The Nazis and World War II.
D) The Soviet Union, the Cold War, and the possibility of nuclear annihilation.
E) Al Qaida and the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
F) The election of President Obama.

(Answer below)

According to Republican former Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo, the correct answer is “F.”  After listing those other historical events, Tancredo said:

“I firmly believe this – it’s not just, you know, sort of a dramatic statement that a person would make to get press or something, or ink. I believe this with all my heart. The greatest threat to the United States today, the greatest threat to our liberty, the greatest threat to the Constitution of the United States, the greatest threat to our way of life, everything we believe in, the greatest threat to the country that was put together by the founding fathers is the guy that is in the White House today.”

Insane hyperbole.

The greatest threat to our country is insane hyperbole. These people celebrated an incompetent President who was not elected by a majority of the people and who ran the country into the ground. Now they feel threatened by a democratically elected President who is trying his best to fix the mess.

Face it, some people just want us in the ditch. That’s why they drove us there.

  2. James Young Says:

This rhetoric is no worse than that advanced by the moonbat far Left against President Bush. Witness “spotter’s” comment. “Incompetent”? Bold words from a supporter of a guy who’s never run anything but his mouth. “Not elected by a majority of the people”? Perhaps factually true, but constitutionally irrelevant. “Ran the country into the ground”? Yeah, only if you believe the actions of Chris Dodd and the Banking Queen to protect the corruption at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had nothing to do with the crisis. And “trying his best to fix the mess”? You don’t “fix” a “mess” by following the same ill-advised economic snake oil that started the problem eighty years ago.

The difference is, of course, that you have never condemned THAT rhetoric.

  3. Va Breeze Says:

So Bush was President but is not responsible for anything that happened while he was President? I guess you think like those on Fox “news” : the blame was Clinton’s then jumps straight to Obama.

James-are you responsible for your actions?

  4. spotter Says:

Turn off Fox News, James. Go outside and get some fresh air. Take a walk. Look around. Talk to your neighbors. We’ll all be better for it.

UPDATE: Tancredo has just announced that he will enter the race for Colorado governor as a Constitutional Party candidate.

This has dismayed Colorado Republican Party Chairman Dick Wadhams (who Virginians may remember as the mastermind of George Allen’s Senate campaign).

    BONUS: Also in Colorado:

“Will you tell those dumbasses at the Tea Party to stop asking questions about birth certificates while I’m on the camera?” — Republican Senate hopeful Ken Buck, who has positioned himself as the Tea Party candidate

Virginia can’t have all the fun.
