    Thanks for nothing, Shad Plank. No hat tip for this post. What a bunch of weasels! http://hrblogs.typepad.com/the_shad_plank/2010/08/is-glenn-nye-a-difficult-democrat.html

    Democrats in the 2nd district may need to hold their noses and vote for the lesser of three weasels.

    Eileen is “excited” about Rep. Perriello’s campaign in the 5th district, but can’t muster much enthusiasm for Rep. Nye’s campaign here at home (where she can actually cast a vote).

    According to the latest report, Rep. Perriello voted with the Democratic Party 90.4% of the time, while Rep. Nye did 82.7% of the time. Apparently, that 7.7% makes all the difference. Please remember that the only alternatives in the 2nd district are Scott Rigell or Kenny Golden, who would vote with the Democratic Party approximately 0.0% of the time.

    The bigger picture is that these are the only two competitive races in Virginia this cycle. We must re-elect both Rep. Perriello and Rep. Nye to preserve Democratic control of the House. Please remember that the alternative to House Speaker Pelosi is House Speaker Boehner, as well as loss of committee chairmanships and control of the legislative agenda.

    Greetings from Kentucky.

    @David Campbell

    Well said. If Glenn is going to win, he is going to needs for all elements of the Democratic Party to show up and cast their ballot for him on election day. If this does not happen, he is toast. Now, on the other hand, hopefully his somewhat moderate voting record, his willingness to support both the interests of the military and the small business person, will be enough to convince enough swing voters to support him. But he is still going to be painted with the brush that a vote for Glenn is a vote for Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Perhaps when this negative advertising shows up it will be enough to influence the liberal/progressive elements of his district to show up on election day to offset the number of voters who will decide to vote against him.

    @Eileen

    What is Waxman talking about? Well he is talking about people like you indirectly. The conservative base of the Republican Party is energized and the liberal base of the Democratic Party is disappointed in even the President himself. The norm is for the party in power to lose seats in mid term elections. Due to the economy, and the impossibility to please everyone who voted for Democrats last election, especially during these hard times. Well let me ask you that if you are so disappointed in Glenn, just how happy you will be with a candidate who has an (R) behind his name representing you? Is your memory so short that you do not prefer Glenn over someone like Thelma? Are you unwilling to share power in the Democratic Party with moderates? If you are unenthusiastic about Glenn, just how enthusiastic do you expect moderates to be over liberal candidates in other districts?

    Actually Waxman was being fairly optimistic. There is going to be some water going under the bridge between now and November. However if the liberals of the Democratic Party do not show up in November? Well I guess that will prove that the Democratic Party was wrong to reach out to moderates to win elections. By reaching out to moderates and winning elections short term, short sighted liberals think they have more to gain with Republicans in majority.

    Eileen, if you think the neighborhood went to hell when Glenn Nye moved into the Capitol Hill neighborhood, just what are you going to think of the neighborhood when Rigell moves in? Can you be as tolerant of moderates as you expect moderates to be of liberals?
