Birds of a feather should flock together. And why not come here to rub salt in our environmental wounds. Drill baby drill too!

I thought I heard Glenn opposes offshore drilling?

Senator Webb coming to Hampton Roads to campaign for Glenn would be helpful in my opinion. Perhaps it won’t help energize the base, but the base seems to be resistant to becoming energized anyway (Glenn Nye is a DINO [Democrat In Name Only] don’t you know?). If Senator Webb can convince moderates to support Glenn, every voter convinced not only adds to Glenn’s column it takes one tally away from Rigell’s.

Nye supports drilling – very sorry to report…

  3. LittleDavid Says:

Well I will applaud him for that support, since I am in favor of it. Can you provide a link that shows his change of position?

  4. Eileen Says:

I don’t think there’s a link to his position that I can send you to, just repeated public statements as recently as last week’s debate. Nye supports an “all of the above” approach. He does condition his support with that of non-conflict with military operations in the VACAPES.

  5. LittleDavid Says:

I’ll take your statement as authoritative. Personally I am pleased if Glenn supports the “all of the above” approach. His approach seems to come closest to my lifestyle. What about yours?

  6. Eileen Says:

Peculiar question, LD… are you asking if my lifestyle is “all of the above”? If so, then no. My lifestyle is daily drudgery, same ol’, same ol’ and absolutely no fun. I can’t wait till my youngest is off to college and I can then partake in “all of the above”. :)

  7. LittleDavid Says:

    OK, Eileen,

Then you are just like me in some ways. You do not want to give up your air conditioning in the heat of summer either. I take it you do not have solar panels on your roof either yet.

If you know anyone in the Richmond area, please pass this along to them:

Rick Waugh, Democratic candidate for the Seventh Congressional District, will speak with the Henrico County Democratic Committee at 7:30 PM, Sept. 13, 2010, at the Richmond Jewish Community Center (located on Monument Avenue, just two blocks towards Richmond from the Libbie Ave. and Monument Ave. intersection)

    Eilleen,

Just to let you know that I wasn’t just trying to rub salt into your wounds with that last comment, I am actually exploring getting solar panels put on my roof. Today I did a little exploring on the internet while I had some time on my hands. I discovered that Virginia indeed does have a net metering law, although there are some complicated restrictions on it. I have taken steps to further educate myself on this and explore just how costly it will be.

I was disheartened to hear on a radio program that some group or other had did a study on solar panels for residential use and there results went something like “solar panels take 70 years to pay for themselves and they are only designed to last 20 years” but those results at 1st blush seem ridiculous. Due to some unexpected expenses, I might have to wait until next spring to have the work done, but I am seriously considering it. I want to pay cash to avoid finance charges. Perhaps that is what the problem was with the study. Sure, if you put the solar panels on your charge card and then make minimum payments, I guess it might take 70 years for them to pay for themselves.

Me? I’m thinking eliminating an expense in retirement might be a wise investment towards retirement. You do not need as much savings/income when you eliminate an expense.

I will try to keep everyone informed what I find out as I educate myself on this so that you too might be one step ahead if you ever consider it. If anyone has already gone through this process, I would be grateful if you would share your experiences with me.

    1) drilling is terrible. if you are going to drill you need labor unions to protect workers & government to regulate drilling for safety for the environment 2)Webb is a great liberal democrat. if he campaigned for Nye, i would attend. Like i did for warner. I have recently decided to vote Nye, because he is better than Rigell. I am not energized though. Cant campaign with Nye’s “run from obama” message.

  11. Eileen Says:

    Rob, ditto me.

  12. David Campbell Says:

A non-energized vote counts the same as an enthusiastic one. Staying home isn’t a viable option for Democrats this year.

  13. LittleDavid Says:

OK, as a moderate, I can enthusiastically support Glenn Nye. Problem with some moderates is that a vote for Glenn is going to be a vote for Pelosi as Speaker. Not that Glenn will necessarily vote for Pelosi as Speaker within the caucus, it is just that after the caucus votes within their confines Pelosi is going to end up in the position. I do not have a major problem with that, but some moderates will.

Now, if you liberal/progressives aren’t going to get enthusiastic about keeping Pelosi Speaker, and moderates are going to be less then enthusiastic voting for Glenn because a vote for him is a round-about vote for Pelosi as Speaker what chance does Glenn have?

Well, if you liberals aren’t going to be satisfied with Nancy as Speaker to heck with you.

To the moderates: According to OpenCongress Glenn Nye has the most moderate voting record of every House Representative currently serving in Congress representing a Virginia district. Glenn has the proven track record. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Do you really want to go back to the likes of Thelma? If you truly are a moderate, Blue Dog Democrat Glenn Nye would better represent your interests then Rigell. If you are a moderate, you have to balance the extremes. Glenn Nye offers the best balance within the choices offered.
