I agree 100% with conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan, who effectively makes the case that President Obama’s critics (from the right and the left) are both objectively wrong, that Obama’s first term has been remarkably successful, and that Obama deserves reelection.

Perhaps it depends on who is doing the polling perhaps.
This poll shows Santorum doing better then Romney at the national level, although still trailing Obama:

I think the new poll reflects a more recent swing of Republicans from Romney to Santorum. Meanwhile, the negative campaigning by Republican candidates has shifted independents toward Obama.
In addition to leading each of the Republican candidates nationally, Obama is doing even better in key swing states.
